History
ROMERO was incorporated in the state of California on May 20, 1992 and was soon designated a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) through CalTrans.  Through the CalTrans DBE program, ROMERO quickly established itself as a leader in the Southern California construction industry by successfully completing numerous highway, dam and airport construction projects.  Although graduated from CalTrans’ DBE program, ROMERO was certified by the Small Business Administration (SBA) as an 8(a) contractor and was quickly accepted into the Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) program for NAVFAC Southwest.  Now graduated from the 8(a) Business Development Program, ROMERO successfully performed over $138 million in sole-sourced contracts for general engineering, asphalt paving, and design build projects at various military installations in California and Idaho.

Through participation in the 8(a) Program, ROMERO has continued and maintains the tradition of quality workmanship and excellent client relationships through a variety of large projects and programs, including multiple POCA contracts through the US Army Corps of Engineers both LA and Sacramento Districts, many IDIQ contracts and several sole-sourced projects with the US Air Force, as well as, multiple Job Order Contracts with NAVFAC Southwest.

ROMERO’s resource pool consists of experienced Project Managers and committed vendors, which allow ROMERO to easily manage multiple, concurrent and geographically dispersed projects throughout the western United States.  Within the past three years, ROMERO has managed over $90 million in construction projects where ROMERO’s management and staff have completed hundreds of projects in Idaho and throughout California where the project locations have been outside a 300+ mile radius and up to 930 miles from ROMERO’s primary office in San Diego County.  With ROMERO contracting work with 19 different military installations and concurrent projects on up to 12 different installations at any given time, ROMERO has a proven track record to deliver quality projects on time and within budget.

The success ROMERO has had in the Public Works, Private and Federal sector of the construction industry has provided the company with several unique advantages, including cost savings in building and street improvements, while providing a superior quality product.  ROMERO has strong financial backing and bonding capabilities essential to performing high-profile, large-budget projects, yet maintains a focus on client relationships and service.  ROMERO’s ability to self-perform an average of 80% of construction field operations has also contributed to our success.

ROMERO is a well-established general contractor comprised of experienced project management personnel committed to exceeding client expectations. Our team’s technical expertise, relevant experience and competitive pricing are unsurpassed.

Government Assessments
  • “Romero General Construction Corp. level of professionalism is one that exceeded the governments expectations. The quality of service provided for Repave Entry Road @ Gate 2 was excellent. The temporary interruption to the gate was virtually unnoticed due to Romero’s willingness to perform work over the Christmas holiday period. The gate remained closed and reopened as promised after the holidays were over. The water main unforeseen condition was handled expeditiously by Romero. They provided solution to the issue and managed to hire a plumbing contractor that was able to accomplish the work with minimal impact to the base’s regular operations. All in all I would recommend this contractor as they are very easy to work with and will go any extend possible to meet any reasonable client request.”

February 2014 Evaluation by Charles Christensen, Engineering Technician,
     Berkeley Road MCAGCC Twentynine Palms

  • “The contractor was asked to perform within a limited window of construction opportunity: after the early September air show and completion by December. Through the contractor’s dedication and spirit of cooperation the project was finished on time and on budget. His willingness to work through adversity to achieve a successful conclusion was evident when several severe weather incidents caused the contractor to work 16 hour days for a period of time in order to bring the project back on track for completion by the target completion date.”

March 2012, Construction Contractor Appraisal Support System (CCASS) Evaluation by Charles Ogonowski, Contract Specialist

  • “Due to the high visibility and compressed schedule the contractor met with the base CO to re-assure him that the construction could be completed per the time frame allocated on the RFP.  The contractor was able to complete the design and work with the government to resolve all comments in a timely manner and not delay the start of construction.”  “The contractor adhered to the approved schedule and completed all activities on time.  The compressed schedule did not allow for any activity to slide since the project needed to be completed before the air show.”

March 2, 2012, Construction Contractor Appraisal Support System (CCASS) Evaluation by Kyron Brimmer, Sr. Construction Manager, MCAS Miramar ROICC

  • “Because of the contractor’s diligence and attention to detail the project proceeded without unnecessary delay.”
